Google Doc Ninja!

Today we became google doc Ninjas! It was really fun to do. The ninja challenge is steps to knowing all of your computers shortcuts. It is very fun to do, We had our Manaiakalani facilitator Whaea Donna. Also big shout out to our buddy class, room 4 Matawai school who had shown us this fun activity through their blogs last week.

Colour Kaitaia!!

A few weeks ago we had a 5 km fun run at our towns A&P ¨ agricultural and pastoral ¨show grounds. We walked down from our school to the A&P show grounds  with the other participants from our school.

we arrived down at the showgrounds. We saw other schools from different places, there weren't many runners. Then some adult runners had arrived, after that a few daycare's and kindergartens came with them. Then the DJ got some older kids from another school they got up on the back of a trailer and did some stretching before the big run we had to do. Right when we finished stretching we went over to the starting line which was also the ending and then...ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, ¨get ready! I  said GO!!! off I went, there were people flying pass me I was sprinting as fast as I can I looked back at all my friends and everyone else it looked like I was running away from a horde of  elephants!

There were so many people behind and in front of me I passed heaps of people because they started to slow down and once I got to the 3 km mark I slowed down. Then I saw the finish line with bins full of cold water. I was so thirsty I needed a rest so I started running as fast as I could.

I had done it, I finished the race. All of my energy has been drained from my body I was exhausted I couldn't be able to do anything. About 10 minutes later, all my friends came back exhausted and tired.

By the time we got back up to school we were all exhausted and tired.it was super fun I wish we can do it next year. #lets color Kaitaia!

On 6th September a group of 3 actors from NZ playhouse came to Pompallier school to perform a show for primary schools called ¨little red Robin hood¨

MUSEUM TRIP

                   MUSEUM TRIP!!!!
Last Wednesday we went down to the Te ahu building and into the museum. We had to walk from our school through the town and to the Te ahu building. We were all excited to see all of the history of the far north. for the whole term we have been learning about local and New Zealand history like the wars and the Te tiriti o Waitaingi and other stuff.

Related imageAs we arrived their was a lady standing at the the bench waiting for us. We got into groups of 4 and lined up.She introduced herself and said, ¨hello my name is Whina I work in the museum¨ then she gave us a piece of paper ¨ so we are going to have a hunt you are going to find these things on the paper and record what you saw okay?¨So we went off looking for what we needed to we read what they said and recorded what we saw. We saw a lot of things like the Maori cloaks the copy of the pa the Maori village and the anchor off the saint jean Baptiste ship and the kauri gum and a whole lot more.

After all of that we went to her office and we gave her the paper she gave us a massive block of kauri gum and she told us to smell it and to tell her what it smelled like I said it smelled like honey. We sat on the ground and we marked the paper. After that we went back to school it was so fun my favorite thing was the anchor of the saint jeans babteste ship.

SANDRA SILBERZWEIG ART

This term we did some art. This type of art was inspired by the artist Sandra Silberzweig we had to make them abstract. It  didn´t  matter what it looked like even if you made a little mark you would have to make something out of it. We also learnt some facts about Sandra, she was born and raised in Toronto,Canada in the 1960s she lives with husband her 2 adult sons the had no daughters at all her age is unknown we used Indian ink and used soft pastels for the ink we used scuers and paint brushes we laminated them and put them on the wall.

Do you think Sandraƛ art is amazing?

World war 1 letters.

                                        World war 1 letters

W.A.L.T put our-self's in other peoples shoes

We tried to imagine what it was like to be in the great war and how it felt to be like to be in harsh terrain. in the war they had to train in Egypt, that would have been boiling hot.Seeing so much destruction. The solders letters had to be positive and they couldn't tell them what really was like.
How would you feel if you were in the war?
